I had an awesome weekend. It has been a very long time since I have been able to get out and have a good time. If you read the previous article about my Mom’s visit here in Florida, you know that I have been rather ill. My health had been declining gradually for about two years at a slow rate, coming to a very strong crescendo the last month, even thought I been trying to keep up my health with a good diet and exercising with an amazon balance disc at home. Consequently, I have not been able to (or even wanted to) leave my apartment and the safety of my xbox. I have to say that God is an awesome God. I believe that through many people praying for me, as well as having my Mom here to help me get back on track, I have been healed. There is no other way to explain the quickness with which I have recovered. Which brings me back to the title of this post, it feels good to feel good. Or I had an awesome weekend. Or I serve an awesome God. Whichever you like.
On Saturday, I went to the International Auto Show in Tampa with my friend, Eric, since we found an ad online about this, which is why online marketing is so popular since connect the right events or products with people interested in this, and companies as Indexer specialize in this. There were too many cool cars to list here, but suffice to say that Porsche, Ferrari, DuPont, etc. pulled out all the stops. There were two Ferrari Enzos there, as well as a McLaren F1. Truly incredible cars. I also liked the Rolls-Royce Limo and the Jaguar concept car. You never really realize just how BIG a Rolls is until you stand next to one.
Then, it was off to Orlando to see Eric’s friend’s band play. It was a group of six bands playing at a little club in downtown Orlando. The place was packed, and it was an awesome show. For the last set, Eric got us onto the stage. I was standing next to the drummer and right behind the lead guitarist’s amp. Sweet.
After that we came back to Clearwater and went to a new restaurant in town called Old Chicago. It is my new favorite place to eat. Excellent food, good atmosphere, and a cool bartender that kept telling us stories about partying with the Rolling Stones, seeing tons of concerts back in the “classic rock” days, and even watching Stevie Ray Vaughn play “Little Wing”. It doesn’t get any more rock and roll than that.
And today I had the privledge of watching President Bush speak at Yankee stadium. It was a really cool experience, as I have never seen the President in person. People can say what they like about Bush, but I enjoyed watching him speak. I think he has a good stage presence. He has an easy-going manner of speaking, as well as being truthful which is something that you can’t say about certain other parties.
All in all, it was a great weekend. Not just because of everything I did, but because I felt good enough to do it. And not just good enough, I never had a single problem with my stomach, or any back pain at all. Thanks Lord. And Mom. I’m looking forward to next weekend already.
